How do I volunteer to help with the Autumn Auction?
It is never too late to volunteer! We particularly need parents to seek out auction donations. Questions? Please contact The Advancement Office at 301-963-8022 oradvancement@avalonschools.org, Elka Ferrante at brookewoodbspa@gmail.com(Brookewood) or Maria Calvetti at avalonschoolparents@gmail.com(Avalon).
How can I help during the weeks before the Auction?
If you are a current school parent, participating in a Class Basket or Project is a wonderful way to get involved! Class Baskets or Projects can be broken down by individual classes or Primary School (K-2), Lower School (Grades 3-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8) and Upper School (Grades 9-12).
Your Class Parent will be in touch regarding the theme and how you can help. We ask that the total value of a class basket not exceed $300.00.Among the successful baskets in the past: children’s book basket (by grade grouping), boys Lego selection, girls Lego selection, coordinated cooking basket, camping basket, cookout basket, Playmobile figure basket, beach basket, winter weekend basket, wine basket, beer basket, drinks basket, and so many more!
I have more than one child attending Avalon and/or Brookewood. Must I participate in each basket?
Participation in the class basket is not mandatory, although we hope all our parents will join in to the best of their ability. For those families with more than one child in the school, they need only participate in one basket if they wish.
How else could I help?
In addition to participating in the Class Basket, please consider a family donation. Among our most popular items: business services, a gift certificate from your favorite restaurant, venue event, sporting event, or family recreation site .Personal services gift cards for a manicure or pedicure, haircut, massage, etc. also are very popular, and a weekend stay at your vacation home would be a sure hit!
Friends & Family Giving: Reaching out to your friends, neighbors, and extended family members to support our schools with an auction donation or participation as an Auction Angel or Special Friend is a great way to extend and support our school communities.https://avalonschools.ejoinme.orog/AvalonBrookewodAutumnAuction2021
Neighborhood Businesses: Consider asking for a donation from the merchants you frequent. Small businesses often support local schools and the students & families who patronize their shops. Whether it is your dentist or dry cleaner, letting them know the auction is coming up and asking if they would like to contribute an item or service is another way to build community. Many businesses or individuals will contribute on the spot! Make it as easy as possible for them by having a donation form handy.
